Commissioned Art

Best time to reach me by phone is Monday – Friday 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. I return all missed calls and reply to emails within one business day.

 

I accept 1-2 commissions per month depending on the size and scope of the project, and other factors. On months when I am attending many shows, I do not accept commissions. Be aware that November 1 is my deadline for accepting commissions in time for Christmas.

Projects That Currently Can Be Commissioned:

​

  • Pedestal and 12 inch saucer bird baths

  • Landscape paintings

  • Paintings of your home or buildings on your property

  • A painting for use as a holiday card (various ways to handle this).

  • Decorative room panel or divider

  • Decorative terra cotta plate

Project Considerations, Etc.

To assist me in envisioning your project, please consider the following prior to contacting me:

  • Where is the piece to reside? Indoors or outdoors? Only pedestal or saucer bird baths can be used in outdoor areas. But pedestal bird baths can be used as a table inside, and saucer bird baths can be a decorative plate.

  • If the piece is to be in your garden, where do you envision it being placed?

    • What colors are the plantings in that area?

    • What motif or scenes are you considering?

    • Do you have a particular image in mind or picture I can use as a model for the painting?

  • If the piece is to reside in your home, what room?

  • What type of art do you prefer?

  • What are the colors in that room?

  • If it is a painting, what size canvas are you wishing to have?

  • Do you want an unframed canvas or a framed picture?

    • If framed, do you want me to frame it?

    • If yes, what type and color frame are you envisioning?

  • Do you have a photograph that you want me to work from?

  • What is the mood you are trying to create?

  • Is there anything else you want me to know?

  • Do you want the piece delivered (within 50 miles of my address), or ship it? Be aware that shipping can add two more weeks to the project, dependent on where you reside.

 

Agreement and Timing

 

Once we chat and I have received any pictures or other images you would like me to work from, I will email you a simple agreement. It will outline:

  • Type and scope of the artwork.

  • Framed or unframed and cost involved.

  • Shipping will be determined at the time it is shipped and will be billed separately.

  • Delivery costs are $5.00 per every 20 miles.

  • Total cost of the piece with tax and minus shipping or delivery.

  • A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to start.

  • That the project will be completed within 30 days of receiving the deposit and the signed agreement.

  • Final payment is expected when you receive pictures of the finished piece, prior to shipping, or at the time of delivery.

  • I do not give refunds or accept returns for commissioned art.

  • I am not responsible for damages that happen when shipping. For bigger pieces I use FedEx and have them do the packaging so that they assume the liability for all damages. When shipping USPS, the package will be insured for the cost of the piece.

 

Follow-up

 

About 2 weeks after you receive your artwork, you will receeive an email with a short questionnaire so that I can collect feedback on your experience and satisfaction. I hope you will take time to complete it, as it will assist me in serving others better.
